Dear Friends,
In my capacity as Curator of David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites (I am David Gale) I am frequently asked to cocktail parties by people who wish to butter me up. Why, only the other day I went to one and some people stood me on a table and passed up compliments. As I reacted to each compliment they could see my reaction. I think this is why they did that (rather than having me among them on the floor). I could tell that they all wanted to do a Peachy Coochy presentation having heard of the great success of the text and image entertainment in London.
At first I found their attentions pleasing – after all, when I was a child I was frequently told to get up on a table and take down my trousers and underpants whereafter they would shout at my penis. I don’t know how many readers out there – the males, necessarily – have had this. It’s dreadful. There really is nothing to be said for it. It doesn’t build your character – no, it doesn’t!
Sometimes I think that this whole fantastically successful Peachy Coochy thing (that I curate) is just a transparent tissue enabling me to work off the shock of having people shout at my penis. This is not to say that the shows are not great. They are great! This is not to say that the Coocheurs (Presenters – it’s a Peachy Coochy term) are also driven by comparably assaultive early experiences. They are not! The Coocheurs are straight down the line people with whom what you see is what you get!
This is what you get:

David Gale’s Peachy Coochy Nites
The projector projects 20 images for precisely 20 seconds each. The Coocheur (or Presenter) speaks for precisely twenty seconds per image. Randomness is discouraged but narrative linearity is not automatically esteemed.
David Gale, having launched a nationwide performance must-have, continues to curate this series of Peachy Coochy events at ArtsAdmin’s new, stylish yet reassuring Bar. Each event features six Coocheurs, or Presenters, drawn from many walks of life. Each Coocheur will compose a verbal response to 20 images of their choice. Each presentation lasts 6 minutes and 40 seconds. There will be gaps between presentations for drinking and light conversation.
David, something of a Black Belt in these matters, will both compere and present the angular chromed components that, while resembling a teasing diversion, never reassemble into a traditional wire puzzle like you get in crackers.
One of those people at the party said:
“It is of the earth this Peachy Coochy. It is text and image gold!”
